An Online Course Presented Together by Renewal Lodge and Mindfulness In Recovery® Institute

Are you looking for a way to enhance your recovery journey, support a loved one pursuing a life of sobriety, or gain valuable skills as a treatment professional?

We have good news for you.

Renewal Lodge has teamed up with the Mindfulness In Recovery® Institute to provide an in-depth online course designed to empower individuals from all walks of life to cultivate resilience, reduce stress, and live with greater purpose and connection through mindfulness.

Note: This course is not for people seeking residential treatment, but is designed for people already firmly established in meaningful recovery.

Key Benefits: Developing the Seven Skills of MIR®

At its core, Mindfulness in Recovery® enhances seven essential skills that align with the four pillars of mental health: Awareness, Insight, Connection, and Purpose. By developing these skills, participants can experience a range of benefits, including:

  • Improved attention, mental stability, and focus
  • Greater emotional balance and resilience
  • Increased sense of meaning and purpose in life
  • Deeper insight into personal habits and patterns, enabling healthier choices

The course aims to equip you with the tools of mind needed to navigate the challenges of recovery more effectively while building a solid foundation for lasting well-being.

Growing Understanding for Family & Friends

In addition to supporting individuals in recovery, this eight week mindfulness course also offers unique benefits for family members and friends who want to grow their understanding and support of an established practice.

Family and friends will receive a specialized guidebook designed to help them navigate the challenges of supporting a loved one in recovery.

Continuing Education Credits for Treatment Professionals

The Mindfulness in Recovery® online course offers a valuable opportunity for clinicians, therapists, and addiction treatment professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of mindfulness-based recovery support.

By completing the course, professionals can earn 36 NAADAC (National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors) Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which are recognized by many state licensing boards and professional organizations.

Additionally, completing the course serves as a prerequisite for the Mindfulness in Recovery® certification course, which offers a more in-depth training for professionals seeking to integrate mindfulness techniques into their clinical practice.

Dear Renewal Lodge Visitors,

My name is John Bruna, co-founder of the Mindfulness in Recovery® Institute, and more importantly, a grateful member of the recovery community. I am incredibly fortunate to have found my recovery in 1984. Of course, I did not achieve continuous recovery through willpower or my own efforts, but through the guidance and caring support of countless others that selflessly taught me how to live through the 12 Steps.

My journey of recovery brought this once homeless, shame-based, traumatized, insecure young man to a life far beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I discovered self-worth, the joy of helping others, the gifts of parenting and grandparenting, and most importantly the ability to live a meaningful and purposeful life with integrity.

One of the greatest gifts of recovery is that I have the opportunity to give back and help others discover their self-worth, dignity, and the skills to fully live lives that they find truly meaningful. This is the inspiration for developing the skills of Mindfulness in Recovery® (MIR) to meet the needs of new generations struggling with alcohol and other substance use disorders. MIR is a set of evidence-based skills designed to help people fully integrate their tools of recovery in ways that are personalized, practical, and in alignment with their deepest values.

While we train counselors and therapists throughout the United States and abroad, I personally have chosen to work directly with the amazing team and clients at Renewal Lodge to develop the model MIR 12-step program for the nation. I choose Renewal Lodge because of the vision of its mission and the dedication of its team. Renewal Lodge is an extremely rare environment in which the staff embodies the very mindfulness and 12-step practices and skills they offer their clients. The results have been beyond my expectations. It is an honor to be here and I treasure my personal time with every client I meet.

With Gratitude,

John Bruna
